The next eclipse
Annular Solar Eclipse, February 6, 2027
In 96 days · New moon in Aquarius
The next eclipse comes on February 6, 2027: an annular solar eclipse, peaking at 15:59 UTC. The Moon passes in front of the Sun but is too small to cover it, so a ring of light stays around it. It falls in Aquarius. The ring crosses southern Chile, Argentina's Atlantic coast and eastern Uruguay, then reaches West Africa at sunset. Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Santiago see the Sun with a bite taken out of it. Then on August 2, 2027 comes the big one: a total solar eclipse over southern Spain and North Africa.

What this eclipse is about
This eclipse falls in Aquarius, the sign of friends, groups and the future you want to build. An annular eclipse never goes fully dark: a ring of light stays around the Moon. Read it as an ending that keeps a little light, a change you can already see the shape of.
It falls on the same day as Lunar New Year, when the Year of the Goat begins. Three days later Mercury turns retrograde. So start slowly: name the new thing on the day, and wait a few weeks before you sign or buy.
Where you can see it
Each time is on that city's own clock. Inside the path it is when the dark or the ring lasts; elsewhere it is the moment the Moon covers the most.
| City | Time | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Spain | ||
| Las Palmas | 18:04 | 11% of the Sun · at sunset |
| Latin America | ||
| Lima | 10:17 | 2% of the Sun |
| Santiago | 12:04 | 62% of the Sun |
| Buenos Aires | 12:32 | 82% of the Sun |
| Montevideo | 12:36 | 86% of the Sun |
Look at the Sun only through eclipse glasses, the whole time. Even the ring is too bright for your eyes.
August 2, 2027: the day goes dark over southern Spain
This is the eclipse of the decade for Spain. A little before 11 in the morning, the Moon covers the whole Sun over Cádiz, Málaga, Ceuta and Melilla. Ceuta gets the longest dark in Spain, almost five minutes. Everywhere else in the country, at least 70% of the Sun goes dark.
Further east the dark lasts longer. Near Luxor, in Egypt, it lasts 6 minutes 23 seconds, one of the longest of the century. The next total eclipse seen from Spain will not come until 2053.
In astrology it falls in Leo, the sign of the heart and of being seen. A total eclipse is a full stop and a fresh page. Ask what you are ready to show the world, and what you have kept hidden to keep the peace.

The three places, and how to read them
Lay the cards in a row, from left to right. A solar eclipse is a new moon, so its spread looks at an ending and a start. A lunar eclipse is a full moon, so its spread looks at what is ready to be seen and released. This page draws the one that fits the next eclipse.
1. What is closing
The part of your life that is ready to end
A solar eclipse is a new moon that hides the Sun for a moment. In that dark, something old slips away. This card names it: a habit, a role, a story you keep telling about yourself. Let it go without a fight.
2. What is opening
The new start coming toward you
When the light comes back, it comes back to something new. This card is that door. It may be small: a person, an offer, an idea that will not leave you alone. Watch for it in the weeks after.
3. Your first step
What to do when the light returns
Eclipses move things fast, so the first step matters. This card shows it. Keep it simple and take it in the days around the eclipse. A hard card here asks for patience first, then the step.
How this reading works
When you tap the deck, all 78 cards of the classic 1909 deck are shuffled and the top three are laid out in order. The dates, times and paths on this page were checked against NASA and against the tables of Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional. Every place and every meaning was written by hand for Tarot Lune.
