Your tarot birth card comes from the date you were born. Add the day, the month and the full year, then add the digits of that total until you reach a number from one to twenty two. That number is a Major Arcana card, and it is read as the shape of a whole life rather than the weather of one week. Most people get two cards: a personality card, which is how the world meets you, and a soul card underneath it, which is what you are actually doing here.

How do you calculate a tarot birth card?
Add the day, the month and the full four digit year as whole numbers, then add the digits of that total. If the result is over twenty two, add its digits once more. Born on 13 April 1975: 13 + 4 + 1975 = 1992, and 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 21, The World. The soul card reduces once more: 2 + 1 = 3, The Empress. There is a second method that adds every digit of the date separately, and it gives a different card for almost half of all birthdays, so it is worth knowing which one you were shown. Why do some people get three cards?
Only nineteen does that. Nineteen folds to ten, and ten folds to one, so the chain runs The Sun, the Wheel of Fortune, The Magician. Every other number in the deck stops after one fold. Many calculators drop the third card without saying so.
Is the birth card the same as a life path number?
They come from the same date and they are not the same thing. The life path reduces to a single digit and reads as a number. The birth card stops at twenty two so it can land on a Major Arcana, and it reads as a picture. People often have one that feels accurate and one that does not, which is fine: they are answering different questions.
Can my birth card change?
No. The date does not move, so the card does not either. What changes is the year card, which uses the same sum with the current year, and that one turns over every January.
