Cups are the suit people most want to see and most often misread. Water takes the shape of whatever holds it, so a cup card describes the feeling and not the outcome. The Two of Cups is a real bond and is not a wedding date. The Ace is an open heart and is not a person walking through your door on Friday.
The suit's middle is where it earns its honesty. The Five is grief with two cups still standing behind you. The Seven is too many beautiful options, all of them imagined. The Eight is walking away from something that was genuinely good, which is why it is the hardest card in the suit and the most healing one.

Which cups cards mean yes?
The Ace, Two, Three, Six, Eight, Nine and Ten of Cups are yeses, and the Nine is the wish card; the Eight is a yes to leaving. The Five answers no and the Seven answers not yet, and both do it kindly, by pointing at what you have not been willing to look at.
Do cups always mean romance?
No. Friendship, family, grief, creative work and your own relationship with yourself are all cups. The Three is often friends rather than lovers, and the Four is the flat feeling of having enough and enjoying none of it.
What does a spread full of cups mean?
