Swords are the suit of air: thought, truth, conflict and the words that decide things. Fourteen cards, from the Ace to the King. They have the reputation of being the hard suit, and they earn it, but a sword card is almost never about something being done to you. It is about what you know, what you have said, and what you have been telling yourself.

Swords cut both ways, and the suit says so out loud. The Ace is clarity that arrives whether you wanted it or not. The Two is refusing to look, blindfold on, and it is a choice even when it feels like waiting. The Three is the truth that hurts and is still the truth.
The famous difficult ones are gentler than their pictures. The Nine is the three in the morning card, and the point of it is that the terror is in the room and not yet in your life. The Ten is an ending that is over, and the sky behind it is already getting light. Read them as the end of the worst of it, not the start.
Swords in a love reading are usually about communication rather than doom. Something needs saying plainly, or something was said and is still sitting between you.

Fewer than in the other suits. The Ace and the Six of Swords are yes, the Six especially, because it is a move toward calmer water. The Two and the Four answer wait: the Two because you already know and are not saying, the Four because rest comes first. The rest answer no.
What does a spread full of swords mean?
You are in your head about it. Something is being analysed instead of felt or done. If there are no cups, ask what you would feel about this if you stopped arguing with yourself for an hour.
