What the card shows
A moon with a quiet face rains soft drops of light over a path that runs between two towers into dark hills. A dog and a wolf howl up at it: the tame fear and the wild one, both awake. From the pool at the bottom, a crayfish climbs out of the deep. Everything in the picture is half seen. The path is real, but it must be walked without full light.
The Moon upright
Upright, the Moon says you are navigating by reflected light, and asks you to admit it. Part of the picture is missing: information withheld, a feeling not yet named, a fear projecting shapes onto an ordinary road. Nothing here says danger; everything says distortion. The card's counsel is specific: keep walking, slowly, and refuse to make permanent decisions inside temporary fog. Write things down, dreams, hunches, the 2 a.m. certainties, and reread them at noon. The path between the towers does lead through. The Moon only asks that you not mistake the middle of the night for the shape of your life.
The Moon reversed
The fog is lifting. Reversed, the Moon marks the end of a confusion, a truth surfacing, a fear seen at actual size. Things look worse at 3 a.m. than they are.
Reversed, the Moon is the fog beginning to lift, or the refusal to let it. In its kind form, secrets surface on their own: a truth comes out, a confusion resolves, you catch your own fear in the act of writing fiction. In its stubborn form, the clarity is available and unwanted, because the mystery had become comfortable, or the illusion was load-bearing. Reversed, the card asks you to cooperate with the dawn: ask the direct question, read the message you have been avoiding, name the fear out loud once. Daylight is coming either way. Walking toward it is faster and kinder than being found by it.

In love, the Moon is the story you tell yourself at two in the morning. Part of it is true. The person who went quiet is hiding something, or is just tired; the message meant what you fear, or nothing at all. The card does not say the bond is bad. It says you cannot see it clearly right now, and that deciding inside the fog is how people leave good things. Ask the direct question in daylight. Write down what you feel tonight and read it at noon.
Reversed
Reversed in love, the Moon is the fog lifting, or the refusal to let it. A truth comes out, a suspicion turns out to be fear, or the clarity is available and you would rather keep the mystery. Read the message you have been avoiding. Ask the question you already know the answer to.
The Moon at work
At work, the Moon says you do not have the whole picture. The offer with a detail nobody mentions, the reorganization everyone whispers about, the colleague whose motives you keep guessing at. Deciding now would be deciding on a rumor. The card asks for two things: patience, and one plain question to the one person who actually knows. Drawn for a career change, it says the fear of the new road is painting shapes that are not there. Walk slowly and keep going.
Reversed
Reversed at work, the Moon is a confusion resolving: the real reason for the delay comes out, the rumor dies, you finally read the contract. Or it is the refusal to look, because knowing would force a decision. Cooperate with the daylight. Ask for the number, the date, the answer.
The Moon and money
Around money, the Moon says a number is unclear or unsaid. The fee that is not in the brochure, the loan whose real cost you have not added up, the partner who says it is fine and does not show the accounts. Nothing here says you are being robbed; everything says you are guessing. Before you commit, get it in writing. Before you panic, get the actual figure. Fear does terrible math at night.
Reversed
Reversed around money, the Moon is the hidden cost coming to light, or the statement you finally open. It can sting. It also ends weeks of guessing. Whatever the number is, it is smaller than the one your fear invented at three in the morning.

The Moon answers no, but its no means not like this: too much is unseen for a yes to be safe. Ask again when the missing piece surfaces.

1. The pictures
The Nine of Swords is someone sitting up in bed in the dark, face in their hands, nine swords on the wall.
