What the card shows
A naked child rides a white horse out of a walled garden, arms open, carrying a huge red banner. Behind the wall, four sunflowers turn their faces up. The sun above takes half the sky, with rays straight and curved: light that reaches everything, and warmth that does. No armor, no reins, no shadow deep enough to matter.
The Sun upright
Upright, the Sun is the deck's one unambiguous card, and drawing it is permission to believe the good thing. Success that can be seen in daylight, health returning, a relationship with nothing hidden in it, work you would happily explain to a child. The Sun adds one instruction people miss: be seen enjoying it. Not performed joy, the real kind, the child on the horse with both arms open. Somewhere you have been waiting for a catch, discounting the win, keeping the celebration small in case the universe notices. This card is the universe noticing, favorably. Let the warmth all the way in.
The Sun reversed
The sun is still there, something is standing in front of it. Reversed, it names joy dimmed by doubt or timing: delayed, not denied. Find the patch of light and stand in it.
Reversed, the Sun does not turn dark, it turns partial. An eclipse of confidence more than of fortune: the good thing is real and you cannot feel it, or it is delayed and you are treating the delay as a verdict. Sometimes it names joy dampened by comparison, a win that shrank the moment you looked at someone else's. The card keeps its nature even inverted: this is still the Sun.
