What the card shows
A woman in a white dress closes a lion's mouth with bare hands, and the lion lets her. There is no weapon anywhere in the image. Over her head floats the infinity sign, and a garland of flowers ties her waist to the animal. The strength shown here is not force: it is the patience that a wild thing decides to trust.
Strength upright
Upright, Strength is the quietest power card in the deck. It does not defeat the lion; it stays with the lion until the lion softens. Drawn today, it says the situation needs your steadiness more than your force: the patient voice, the hand that does not flinch, the tenderness that is not weakness because it chooses to stay. It often appears when you are managing something wild, a temper, a craving, a frightened person, a frightened self. You are stronger than the moment feels. Gentle is not the opposite of strong here; gentle is the proof of it.
Strength reversed
Doubt has been gnawing at your grip. Reversed, Strength points to courage running low, or force used where softness was needed. The lion senses hesitation; so do you.
Reversed, Strength names the lion winning, or the tamer squeezing too hard. On one side: the outburst you regretted, the habit that ran you this week, the fear that chose your words. On the other: control so tight it has become its own violence, self-discipline curdled into self-punishment. Both are the same error at different volumes, force where patience was needed. Come back to the picture: bare hands, no weapon, infinity overhead. You do not need to win against yourself today. You need to sit with the animal until it trusts you again.
